For film and fashion lovers, ‘tis the season to revel in the best of Hollywood costume design. For the 15th year, UCLA’s David C. Copley Center for Costume Design in the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television will host “Sketch to Screen,” a panel discussion featuring all six of this year’s Academy Award nominees for Best Costume Design. The March 1 event at the Egyptian Theater is open to the public, RSVP here. Moderated by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, founding director of the center, distinguished professor and UCLA alum, the event celebrates the artists who’ve shaped the visual style of some of this year’s most vibrant films. One of this year’s honorees, Arianne Phillips (“A Complete Unknown,” “Walk the Line,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “W.E.”) will serve as UCLA’s David C. Copley 2025 Designer-in-Residence. Beginning in May, Phillips will be in class at UCLA, mentoring the next generation of award winning costume designers. Who will take home the Oscar this year? Vote here in our poll.
