The gift is the single largest donation the department and the UCLA Social Sciences Division have received. The Southern California business leader and his wife, fellow UCLA alum Renee Luskin, have given close to $200 million to their alma mater over the years. The history department will be renamed in their honor.

The Fowler Museum has officially kicked off the nation’s largest art event, PST ART 2024: Art & Science Collide, with the exhibition Sangre de Nopal/Blood of the Nopal: Tanya Aguiñiga & Porfirio Gutiérrez en Conversación/in Conversation. New commissions and existing work from these artists will be featured alongside Oaxacan textiles from the Fowler collection through January 12. Organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara and the Fowler Museum at UCLA, this exhibition centers ancestral knowledge and technical experimentation, and brings a special focus to immigration and labor justice.
