Can a concert, exhibition or performance be part of a longevity plan? A recent study from University College London suggests it might. Published in the journal Innovation in Ageing, researchers found that regular arts engagement — both making art and experiencing it — may have measurable benefits for biological aging, with effects in the same general range as exercise.
The timing feels especially fitting at UCLA, where the end of spring quarter brings a wave of student performances, exhibitions and showcases. Consider visiting CORPOREAL TECHNOLOGIES (pictured above), a group exhibit featuring new works by the Design Media Arts MFA 2026 cohort, through May 28. In addition to shaving off some seconds of our biological age, the work itself is inspiring. And so is the atmosphere around it. There is something distinctly energizing about being in a room where students are testing ideas, taking creative risks and cheering one another on. Consider it one more reason to catch a student showcase before the quarter ends. Find details on these programs and more arts events at GoArts.ucla.edu
