False claims, threats and violence have imperiled our nation’s electoral system. Now, elections expert and law professor Richard Hasen has launched the Safeguarding Democracy Project at UCLA to focus on ensuring that future elections remain free and fair.

The longtime campus leader, who currently serves as dean of the division of social sciences, will become UCLA’s chief academic officer on Sept. 1.
