Maybe some of them will realize you can study nature and be a scientist, and demystify what it’s like to be at a university campus.”

Established in 1955, the RAI FILM Festival highlights groundbreaking anthropological films from around the globe. Through film, the organization explores cultural diversity; encourages intercultural dialogue; supports filmmakers; and fosters a thriving, inclusive community.
This year, the festival is co-organized by Professor Aparna Sharma from the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance (WACD), in partnership with Robert Lemelson from the UCLA Department of Anthropology. On Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, WACD will host screenings of both short and feature films in the Glorya Kaufman Dance Theater. UCLA’s edition of the RAI FILM Festival is a traveling version of the biennale event that takes place in the United Kingdom.
