Did you know you can experience Hammer Museum programs and learn more about artists who have been presented without ever setting foot in the galleries? (Though you really should step into the galleries!) The Hammer Channel, easily found on the Hammer website or YouTube, is host to dozens of full-length programs presented at the museum, including talks with artists, authors and members of our local, national and global arts community.
The Hammer also regularly produces thoughtful microdocumentaries about the artists it presents, including a series of short videos that focus on artists from the influential Made in L.A. biennale. These documentaries are largely directed by the Hammer’s in-house filmmaker and double Bruin Gabriel Noguez in partnership with local artist Sean Rowry. Their latest work is a short documentary on local artist from Made in L.A. 2023, Akinsanya Kambon (pictured above). This Sunday afternoon, hear from Kambon, experience a screening of the new doc, and get a signed copy of his first monograph, “The Hero Avenges.” Or catch it all online, later.
